About Maria

Medicare decisions are personal, and you deserve more than a list of plans. You deserve an advisor who will listen, explain your options clearly, and help you make a decision with confidence. I am  Maria Prescod, an independent licensed Medicare Advisor and former Social Security Administration specialist with 13 years of experience helping individuals and families understand retirement, disability, Medicare, and related benefits. Today, I use that experience to help clients navigate Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, Part D prescription drug plans, and Special Needs Plans. Before discussing coverage, I take time to understand the whole person including your doctors, prescriptions, healthcare needs, budget, and personal priorities. My purpose is not simply to help you select a plan, but to help you understand why it may be appropriate for you. I am fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Cape Verdean Creole, and I proudly serve individuals and families from many cultures and backgrounds. Faith, integrity, compassion, and service are the values that guide my work. Whether you are approaching Medicare for the first time, retiring, reviewing your current coverage, or helping a loved one, you do not have to figure it out alone. My guidance is patient, personal, and provided at no cost to you. I would be honored to become a trusted Medicare resource for you and your family.

Questions Maria gets asked

What hobby or pastime do you enjoy most?

My favorite hobbies are reading and cooking. Reading gives me an opportunity to continue learning, reflect, and discover new perspectives. Cooking allows me to be creative and bring the people I love together around the table. Both help me slow down, recharge, and enjoy meaningful moments with my family.

Why did you become a Medicare agent?

After 13 years with the Social Security Administration, I saw how easily people could feel overwhelmed when Medicare, retirement, and healthcare decisions came together. I became a Medicare Advisor because I wanted to do more than explain how the system works I wanted to personally walk alongside people, help them understand their options, and ensure they never felt alone while making such an important decision. This career allows me to combine my professional experience with what comes naturally to me: serving, educating, and caring for others.

What's the most adventurous thing you've ever done?

The most adventurous thing I have done was step onto the Grand Canyon Skywalk—a glass bridge suspended high above the canyon. Looking down through the glass was both breathtaking and a little frightening, but I was proud that I found the courage to do it. It reminded me that some of life’s most unforgettable experiences begin when we are willing to step beyond our comfort zone.

Tell us a little about your family.

My family is one of my greatest blessings. I am a wife and mother, and I understand how important it is to have someone you can trust when making decisions that affect your health, finances, and family. That perspective shapes the patience and care I bring to every client relationship.

Do you prefer mountains or beaches?

I prefer the beach. There is something peaceful and refreshing about being near the ocean the sound of the waves, the fresh air, and the beauty of the horizon help me relax, reflect, and appreciate God’s creation.
