Do you prefer mountains or beaches?
I am originally from Southern California and the beach was my second home! When I'm only a 20-minute bus or car ride away, I could be found at the beach with friends on any given weekend, and even after some early school days!
Tell us a little about your family.
I am the proud Mom of two amazing adult children who live with their spouses and my 4 grandchildren (and soon to be 5th). I love spending spending family time with them in their beautiful states of North Carolina and Florida. I think my Grandma fixes are what keeps me young!
What's the best piece of advice an elder in your family gave you?
My elderly father (who is still in the business at 86) gave me the best advice and compliment! In 2017, as we sat having morning coffee on his patio, he said " Karen, you a naturally compassionate, you love to talk, and I know you love helping people - I think you would be great Life and Health insurance Agent, helping folks with Medicare!" I passed my state exam and became an insurance agent that summer! It was truly the best advice he ever gave me!
What's the most memorable concert or event you've been to?
I love all classic 1970s Rock and Roll bands but I still love REO Speedwagon the most! I have been to many concerts between CA, NV and AZ (and even saw Kevin Cronin in NC) - Although there have been changes to the band starting in 2024, I was blessed to have met the lead singer, Kevin Cronin, in Laughlin, NV back in the day - he is just as kind and humble in person as he is on stage!
What's your favorite season of the year and why?
I love Christmastime! I get together with family and friends and love helping folks in my community, especially children! Over the years, I have held holiday parties wherein I create a Children's Toy donation box - my guests enjoy my food and music but absolutely love joining me in bringing special gifts and toys for the children. With a heart humble and grateful, I find the biggest joy in delivering all of those toys to the Phoenix Children's Hospital.
